04/10: Raspberry Jam and Potatoes
The sweet corn season has ended. We will have some raspberry jam from the fall crop and potatoes in October. Please call ahead for the status of these items.
05/08: Sweet Corn Available
The season's first sweet corn is now available, in limited quantities. By Friday. August 8 there should be the normal quantities of our triple sweet varities. We also have yellow and green beans, new potatoes and beets at this time.
Raspberries are at their peak this week. New potatoes and beets are ready. Next week we will have green beans as well and sweet corn starting on or about July 30th. Please call 905-836-6358 for crop updates and use the Vivian Rd entrance to the farm while repairs are being made to Warden Ave at Davis Dr.
The strawberry season has reached its peak, and there are plenty of berries still available. Raspberries should be ready starting July 14. Please call 905-836-6358 for crop conditions.
STRAWBERRY/ASPARAGUS SALAD (hot or cold)
Sauce: (make ahead)
1 box strawberries hulled - (reserve 1 lg. un-hulled strawberry per serving - set aside for later)
Slice berries into blender
add -1 to 2 tbs. Light oil (veg. or canola not olive)
-juice of an orange & or lemon
-1 tsp. sugar or substitute
-1/4 to 1/2 tsp freshly grated pepper (do not skimp)
Blend until smooth
Bottle & chill.
Salad:
5 to 7 Asparagus spears per serving
Blanch in boiling water until just tender 3 to 5 min.
If to be a hot dish assemble & serve immediately, if cold, chill with ice water & store wrapped in paper towel.
1 orange ring per serving, cut 1/2 way (into centre).
1 strawberry per serving (hull on) cut 4 or 5 times from bottom nearly to the hull, fan out.
Assembly:
Chill plates if serving cold.
Pool 1 or 2 tbs. sauce in center of plate, with tip of knife pull out into star shaped arms or zig-zags through sauce.
Arrange asparagus on top
Place twist of orange ring on top
Garnish with fanned strawberry, sprinkle with finely chopped parsley &/or chives
& a generous grating of freshly ground black pepper.
Option: lay 3 or 4 lengths of chives across dish.
Serve additional sauce in accompanying dish to drizzle over asparagus to taste.

The season started last week mainly for the earlier varieties. The week of June 23 should see more varieties come on stream, such as Kent and Saphire in addition to the earlier Veestar and Redcoat.

04/06: 2008 Strawberry Season
We expect that the season will start on Monday, June 16, 2008. Please call 905-836-6358 for crop conditions. Warden Ave is closed to local traffic from Vivian to Davis Dr.while traffic lights are being installed at Davis Dr and road repair is under way. The Davis Dr exit cannot be used, but the Vivian and Warden intersection will be open for farm use. Thank you

29/09: Sweet Corn Season
The Sweet Corn season will begin on Friday, August 17, 2007. We specialize in "triple sweet" varieties. Please phone ahead for crop conditions and large orders for corn roasts. This year we will also have some other vegetables including potatoes and tomatoes.
29/09: Raspberries
With the strawberry season drawing to a close in the next few days, raspberries should be available by July 16, 2007. This year we will have only ready-picked berries, but in the future pick-your-own raspberries will also be available. Please call the farm at 905-836-6358 for crop conditions.
